  Vultures Over the Dead City.

They came down from the sky... a small team of soldiers parachuted falling on Procyon, the infected city, where the dead roamed and devoured the living hidding behind doors and barricades.

The aircraft left the team with the same speed it came, leaving only the mystery in the air and eight silhouettes falling slowly between the buildings.

Those were not ordinary soldiers, but what set them apart from any team wasn't the advanced equipment, but the origins. All of them were wanted criminals.

Before the infestation, eight men among the most dangerous fugitives were captured by an unindentified organization.

They were kept in jail, but very well maintained, fed and trained, under one condition:

Outside of their prisons, they would have to face the law and the most severe penalties possible, but if they were in, they would be trained for a long time to complete a single task. After the task, they would be given a reward that would allow them to do what they wanted, including disappear from the country with enough money to become another person in a country far away.

All of them accepted the proposal and were kepr in their cells, which seemed more like luxurious hotel rooms with daily training in external facilities.

They did not see any symbol, neighter inside the training facilities, and even the guards had no distinct badge.

The whole thing didn't seem to involve the government, but whoever was behind it had more money than hair in the state's population together.

Now with the infestation initiated, those eight made their way down as soldiers in a ghoulish atmosphere, to fulfill a dangerous and simple task:

Following the orders of their superiors, who they never come to know personally, only voice messages, they should enter the chaos of the city and find a specific type of infected:

  Pregnant women.

Every soldier should bring up to the central park of the city, a living dead who had a fetus inside her uterus, independent of pregnancy time.

Apparently, pregnant women who were infected and transformaded in beast, failed to show aggressiveness and the unbridled hunger of other living dead, so it would be easy to make them accompany the team.

Men should protect the creatures caught in case of attack or danger of any kind and not question the reason behind the task.

After delivering the undead in the park, they would be rescued and could already be considered free mans.

None of the soldiers knew the name of the companions, they would communicate only by numbers and had not trained together.

When landed, they would be strategically near a hospital responsible for the care of pregnant women, to facilitate the capture.

Once the parachute were released in the city, the team was faced with a lot of dead across the street from the hospital.

The deads were slow but in good number, being necessary to fight them using pistols and silencers.

The shots seemed coordinated, like a dance between the soldiers. The silence would not call the attention of more dead, and it was a good thing for them to be slaughtered away from the team, leaving open space to return with the pregnants.

The soldier number "03" was Carlos Sanchez, perhaps the best shooter among others, and the most remarkable, since Carlos was not a common criminal, but a vigilante.

In the brief youth of his marriage, Sanchez found his wife dead after a violent rape accomplished by four men during Sanchez work hours.

The press did not care for a poor man's life and the authorities were having a hard time to find the culprits of the crime.

Sanchez, however, was the first to find what they did to his wife after the first acts of horror. He saw the raw image of dispair and it got stuck inside his brain...

The ones behind the crime not only took her life, but the wounds, or rather, the horror they left, were more surprising that the wounds on those bodies of undead that Carlos was put down now.

Desperation made this man into a thing apart from normal... A beast cold as the dead walking.

Sanchez, alone, investigated and searched for the criminals without stopping to sleep and having little to eat.

He pursued them and would pursue to the end of the world.

But his anger shook his sanity and, in no way, he thought to deliver the culprits to the police.

Instead, the man took for himself the charge of being a monster and killed the guilty, one by one, in their own homes, with the insane cruelty of a man dreaming of revenge.

He planned coldly, as a hunter guided by a force from the darkest corner of existence.

He hunted, cut them, crushed them, destroyed, and became a fugitive, a killer.

But now Carlos was there, killing the undead, accompanied b strangers with the feeling that they were the real monsters entering the environment.

He was a new pest in the city ground, perhaps an antibody, antivirus, shooting and destroying the dead one by one, as if his shots were magnetic and appealed to the heads of the living dead.

He could do this all day, just feeling the body exercising, cool, calm, concentrated in leaps of shots, but couldn't keep it, for he had to go inside and take a zombie to delivered in the park.

With open path, the men entered the building, watching a few walking dead and the typical destruction of people's despair, when the chaos began to spread.

The number "08" was the greatest of all the soldiers and by his reaction in a closed environment, it was possible to imagine the crimes he had committed in the past.

Pulling a knife, he advanced against the rotten bodies, cutting off what he saw with the precision of a movie protagonist.

The powerful body crushed creatures against the pillars, with ease, killing or completely immobilizing.

The rest of the team continued to clean the ground in the best way they could, until the number "05" found something that made him draw the attention of his teammates.

Within seconds, all joined at a specific point in that floor, where there was a creature not yet seen.

Now they saw what was the transformation of the virus in pregnant women.

There was a woman with long hair, completely transformed into a grey ghost, with bulging veins, such as roots, deep white eyes and no trace of wound.

This gray transformation seemed to clear the mind of the victim and take away the hunger, and putrefaction did not appear in any way.

She was not breathing, being a living dead, but kept there, inert, watching the team destroy the other beasts.

She did not react to the touch, like a living doll, and when taken by the hand by one of the mans, followed his steps.

The big belly of the pregnant woman did not seem any bother to her movements and, for the first time, the men asked if the virus could be reversed.

Continuing the mission, other men would look for other pregnant, protecting the one they already found.

The hospital elevator still worked, and it was useful to reach the other floors with more speed, worrying for the pregnant zombie not to trip on the stairs.

When the metal doors opened, there was a new floor, a slightly larger number of undeads and, in the background, a small number of pregnant women with different months of pregnancy, all gray and peaceful.

The horde of the dead, however, advanced to the opening of the elevator, seeing the team as lunch brought from downstairs.

It was time to save the smaller weapons and use machine guns attached to the back of the armor.

Eight men together, firing incessantly, with the aim at head height, making the bodies fall and clump on the floor entrance.

Now the undead stumbled over the dead, facilitating the shooting of the vital point of them.

It was hard to get out of the elevator, being necessary armwork to remove the fallen crowd, but the reward was on the other side.

Now the group of eight had five creatures "captured", all following for a new floor.

Further up, the doors opened and revealed more good amount of pregnant women and less dangerous dead, which made the group get past the door and take down the corpses with bare hands.

In the troubled minds of some, it was a fun, like the best punching
